Don't bother with expensive multi-day tours if you just want the view. The Balcony Walk trail offers the best perspective of the canyon's vertical drop, but it requires sturdy boots and zero fear of heights. Go at sunrise to avoid the midday heat and the tour bus crowds from Muscat. Bring your own water and snacks, as facilities are nonexistent. Spend three hours hiking, then hit the village of Al Hamra on your way down.
