Skip the generic house tour and head straight to the back room for the antique printing press demonstration. It is the only place in New Zealand where you see how they actually stamped out 19th-century religious texts. The building smells like old parchment and brine, which is strangely aesthetic. Spend about an hour here, then grab a coffee at the garden cafe. It is niche, but the original French architecture keeps things interesting.
