Skip the crowded buses and book the New River cruise—the one-hour boat ride is the best part. You'll spot crocs and howler monkeys before hitting the High Temple. Climb to the top for the jungle view, but watch out for the steep, uneven steps. Spend about four hours here, bring bug spray, and go with a guided tour to actually learn about the carvings. It is definitely worth the splurge for the boat access.
