Boat over from Copacabana and hike the rugged northern to southern path in about four hours. The views across Lake Titicaca kill any effort the altitude takes out of you. Avoid the overpriced local 'entrance fees' at random checkpoints and just stick to the main trails. Bring cash for a simple lunch of fried trout by the docks. Wear layers because the wind bites hard once the sun ducks behind the mountains.
