Skip the main entrance crowd and head straight for the Chitrashala. The hand-painted murals showing Krishna are the only reason this place holds up against Rajasthan’s bigger forts. It’s gritty, peeling, and completely raw. Bring a legit camera for the Chhatar Mahal views because the light hitting the blue-hued walls hits differently. Plan for two hours tops; the uneven, crumbling staircases aren't for the clumsy. Don't pay for a guide, just wander the maze.
