Ditch the Byron Bay circus and drive twenty minutes south to Lennox Head. This stretch offers legit peeling rights for surfers and quiet sand for everyone else. If you walk the track toward Pat Morton Lookout, you get a solid view of the coastline without fighting for space. Go early before the northerlies pick up at noon. Pack water and sunscreen, because once you drop your towel on the sand, you won't find a shop nearby.
