Don't just treat the harbor as a transit hub. While it's chaotic when the ferries dock, the public beach to the right of the pier is actually solid for a quick swim. Spend sixty minutes here grabbing a lemon granita before taking the funicular up to the town center. If you want the real views, book a semi-private boat tour to the Blue Grotto directly from the docks. Skip the overpriced sit-down cafes right on the water.
