Don't pay for the sunset boat tours to see the walls from afar; walk the actual ramparts instead. Start at the Pile Gate entrance right at 8am to beat the cruise ship crowds and the intense midday heat. The 2km loop takes about 90 minutes. Wear actual sneakers because the stone is slippery and steep. Grab an overpriced soda at the Buža Bar on the cliffside halfway through. It is worth the entrance fee.
