Walk the 2.5km loop for the best birdwatching in El Calafate without leaving town. You will see Chilean flamingos and black-necked swans against a backdrop of Lake Argentino. Go an hour before sunset when the light hits the water and the wind usually dies down. Skip the guided tour; the self-guided circuit with the provided bird ID flyer is all you need.
