SWFL Museum of History: Steam Engines & Real Calusa Artifacts

Step into a converted 1920s train depot to see how Florida looked before the air conditioning and tourist traps. You can walk through a vintage Pullman railcar and check out massive mastodon bones found nearby. Skip the generic gift shop and head straight for the Calusa Indian exhibit to see actual shell tools. Plan for about 90 minutes here before hitting the downtown Fort Myers breweries. It is cheap, air-conditioned, and surprisingly weird.

Address: 2031 Jackson St., Fort Myers, Florida, 33901
