You can’t visit Foz do Iguaçu without taking in the spectacular sight of the majestic Itaipu Dam! A true marvel, the largest in the world in electricity generation responsible for almost 20% of Brazil’s electricity consumption and 90% of Paraguay’s. It’s a gigantic in all senses being one of the seven engineering wonders of the modern world.
Once you arrive at the dam, you’ll enjoy a minimum of 3:30 h of leisure time taking two on-site tours.
Upon arrival, appreciate the lookout point with privileged views of the whole infrastructure.
Accompanied by our guide, the first part of the tour is taken in a walk through the protection unit, a refuge created to preserve the fauna and flora habitat of about 50 species of animals.
We then take a tour though the facilities of the dam on a comfortable panoramic double-decker bus operated by Itaipu.
After the tour, have a typical Brazilian lunch at the restaurant by the Itaipu lake, enjoy a beautiful view combined with excellent cuisine.
