Skip the crowded museums and wander the Best Farm trail instead. You get 1,600 acres of open fields and riverside paths that look better than any textbook diagram. Spend two hours walking the Worthington House grounds to see actual damage from the 1864 skirmish. Go during the golden hour when the light hits the Monocacy River just right. Pack bug spray, because the tall grass is ruthless in July. It is low-key, free, and surprisingly eerie.
