Skip the crowded sand near the hotels and head straight for the protected wall at Kuhio Beach. The concrete barrier keeps the water flat, making it perfect for floating with a drink. Show up around 5pm to snag a spot for sunset. It gets busy, so don't expect much privacy. The Duke Kahanamoku statue right there is a photo op you'll finish in seconds. Definitely skip the expensive gear rentals nearby and bring your own.
