Show up at the gates by 8am to dodge the cruise ship crowds pouring in from Kusadasi. The Library of Celsus is the peak photo op, but the Terrace Houses require a separate ticket—pay for it, they are way better than the main drag. Spend three hours walking the marble roads. Skip the generic group tours and book a private guide if you want to actually understand the history without being rushed through the ruins.
