Don't go expecting a museum with polished plaques. This fort is damp, dark, and genuinely haunting. You explore the cramped barracks and jagged shell holes that defined the 1916 hellscape. Give it two hours to really absorb the scale of the destruction. Skip the pricey full-day private tours unless you need an expert historian to explain every crater. Bring a flashlight and a heavy jacket, even in summer. It gets freezing cold inside the bunkers.
