Skip the glorified marketing about soldiers frozen mid-fight; reality is far more somber. This concrete memorial marks where French infantry were supposedly buried alive by artillery fire in 1916. You get a concrete wall, some rusting rifle tips, and a heavy sense of history in under 20 minutes. It is a quick, sobering stop between bigger Verdun forts. Go early to avoid the tour bus crowds. Don't touch the artifacts, just look and move on.
