Don't bother hiking from the base unless you enjoy steep, sweaty climbs; just drive to the parking area near the viewpoint. The jagged rock formation legitimately looks like an elephant trunk. You only need 30 minutes here to snap the photo and deal with the aggressive local monkeys. Go on a weekday morning to dodge the weekend crowds. It gets foggy fast, so check the weather before driving up the winding mountain road.
