Skip the swimming, but definitely hit the Salvador Allende waterfront promenade for the views. The lake itself is polluted, so keep your distance from the water. Book a private city tour if you want someone to explain the volcanic history without getting lost. Sunset hits different here when the Momotombo volcano silhouette appears. Spend an hour walking the boardwalk, grab some street food, and leave before it gets sketchy after dark. Stick to the paved paths.
