Chefchaouen, or "Chaouen" as it is often called by Moroccans, is a popular tourist destination because of its picturesque blue color, visible from far away and even more dramatic up close. The name Chefchaouen refers to the shape of the mountain tops above the town that look like the two horns (chaoua in Berber) of a goat. There are approximately two hundred hotels catering to tourists who flock here from nearby Tangier and Ceuta.
