Walk the loop trail through this 1,000-year-old Sinagua pueblo sitting high above the Verde River. You can actually step inside the rooms and see the original masonry. Skip the midday desert heat and aim for late afternoon when the shadows hit the limestone walls. Budget 45 minutes to hike the 1/3-mile paved path and check the museum for turquoise artifacts. It is way less crowded than Montezuma Castle, so you can actually hear yourself think.
