Skip the tour buses and hike the upper trail for the best look at the Rhine gorge bend. The actual rock is smaller than the myth suggests, so don't expect a mountain. Spend an hour walking the paths, but avoid the tacky museum at the top. Grab a local Riesling at a nearby tavern instead. If you take a river cruise, sit on the starboard side for the clearest photo of the statue.
