Walk through the high-walled redwood stockade and enter the 1800s without the cheesy theme park vibes. The reconstructed Russian chapel and barracks give you a glimpse into a weirdly specific slice of history on the Sonoma Coast. Spend two hours exploring the bluff-top trails and checking out the kelp forests from the beach below. Bring layers because the fog rolls in fast. It is way less crowded than Muir Woods and 100% worth the drive.
