Skip the crowded Circular Quay bars and see this sandstone island from the water instead. You can’t currently walk inside the fort, so book a sunset cruise or a jet boat ride to get close to the Martello tower. It’s the best photo op in the harbour without the Opera House crowds. Spend 30 minutes circling it at golden hour for the best light. Avoid the pricey lunch cruises unless you really want the flex.
