Skip the interior rooms and head straight for the terraces. You are here for the world-famous ornamental kitchen garden, where kale and leeks are literally art. Spend two hours lost in the hedge maze and the Sun Garden. For the best photos, climb to the high viewpoint overlooking the vegetable patterns. Visit during late spring or early autumn to see the beds fully planted. It is the only Loire valley stop where the dirt beats the decor.
