Skip the crowded cable cars and hit the Adolf Munkel trail for the sharpest views of the Odle peaks. You need a solid half-day to handle the elevation change properly. Wear real boots, not sneakers, because the rocky terrain destroys flat soles fast. Hit the mountain huts (rifugi) for actual hot food instead of dry granola bars. Go at sunrise when the limestone turns pink; it is the only time the crowds actually behave.
