Don't bother walking the exterior rows in July; the desert heat is brutal and the planes are metal ovens. Stick to the climate-controlled Hangars 3 and 4 to see the SR-71 Blackbird and Cold War-era jets up close. Budget at least four hours if you care about military tech; otherwise, you'll just be sweating through your clothes looking at static wings. The tram tour is a lazy hack if you're tired, but walking hits different.
