Skip the exterior photos and actually walk inside to see the 1,000-year-old frescoes that survived everything. The main cathedral interior is the highlight, but climbing the bell tower for a panoramic view of St. Sophia Square is non-negotiable. Book a private two-hour walking tour if you want the history without a dry lecture. Spend about 90 minutes here and definitely avoid the midday weekend rush. It is legitimately better than the postcards.
