Skip the crowded Boulders Beach and drive out here for the Stony Point Penguin Colony instead. It is less of a tourist trap and you get closer to the birds without the elbowing. Hike through the Harold Porter Botanical Gardens or surf at Kogel Bay nearby. This spot is mostly empty beaches and wild Atlantic fog. It is rugged, quiet, and way cooler than the Cape Town crowds. Just watch for baboons on the road.
