Rent a floating bamboo hut for the afternoon and order fried fish while dangling your feet over the water. It is a 20-minute ride from the city and much chillier than the Old Town. Skip the midday sun; arrive around 4pm to catch the massive straw animal sculptures before they close. If you are feeling active, use the lake as a finish line for a downhill mountain biking tour from Doi Suthep. Pay the 50 THB entry fee and stay for the sunset.
